NO CELL SERVICE, NO RULES: AN EDITORIAL ELOPEMENT IN BIG SUR
Alyssa and Noah escaped to the coast of California to tie the knot in front of a few friends. It was the ultimate, necessary reminder: your wedding day belongs to you. Period. No performance, no traditional script, just a marriage started exactly the way you want it.
As a wedding photographer on the central coast, days like this are what I live for.
DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS
Alyssa brought a few special intentional details, her veil, bouquet, favorite perfume, and of course, the rings.
Simple details, connecting us to their story.
When planning out what to add to your details box, don’t stress about what should be in it, add what feels right. Add heirlooms, favorite things, something you just think is pretty. Hand it over, tell your photographer what matters most, and let the rest go.
AN INTIMATE WEDDING
They brought their closest friends to witness their vows on the cliffs. This is their village. It was incredibly moving to watch the wind catch their words and see exactly how deeply each person was impacted by what Alyssa and Noah promised each other. The people who stood with them are the ones who will continue to walk with them through all the phases of life.
ROMANTIC EDITORIAL WEDDING PORTRAITS
The vibe is romantic & editorial, aiming for a technically incredible photo that actually has a pulse. For their portraits, we broke away from the crowd to just let them breathe.
This is where the romantic, editorial style shines, found in the quiet, unguarded spaces in between the poses. The way his hand rests on her waist, the wind catching her veil, the shared inside jokes. It’s a visual poem of their connection.
FILM, DIGITAL, & POLAROIDS
As is my usual, their gallery is filled with a mix of digital and analog mediums. For film, I used a mix of 35mm and 120, and polaroids.
Mixing mediums in this way gives a gallery its heartbeat. It gives you both sides of the coin: the crisp, modern reality and the raw, grainy romance.
Digital: For the crisp detail, the fast movement, and the cinematic clarity.
Film: For the warmth, the rich texture, and the undeniable soul.
Polaroids: For the ultimate instant gratification and pure, unedited nostalgia.
CONSIDERING BIG SUR
Nothing like saying I DO on the cliffside in Big Sur. If this is your dream spot, don’t hesitate. While California’s weather can be fickle, rest assured, it is always beautiful. The fog rolls in, the wind whips, and the sun plays hide-and-seek: all creating a magical backdrop for you. Embrace what your wedding day brings.
Explore for the location that feels right to you. The entire coastline is stunning, and you really can’t go wrong.
Don’t forget to book me to capture it all.
